There is something.....

"There is something so elementally attractive about a river stone, or a rock outlined against the sky." Deng Ming-Dao
"You will find more in the woods than books. Trees and stones will teach you that which you can never learn from masters." St. Bernard
"You will feel me beside you; see my face in the stone; hear me on the wind." Grandfather, Mountain Elder

I have collected rocks when backpacking forever! It would be a great day if I uncovered one of the summit stones.

I have been canoeing lakes and rivers for quite a while too. In 2004 a group of us were paddling various lakes in Prince Albert National Park in northern Saskatchewan. At the south end of Crean lake is a campsite where we stopped on our last day. After starting a small fire we were moving cut logs around for better seating. Under one of these was a "Summit Stone" by DSD. What a neat experience that was! What a terrific find. I've been looking over this website after coming across a link on a kayak site. Its brought back great memories and thanks for those. I will let the others know and visit here again.
